Maas, Lisa

Missing: Lisa Leona Maas

Circumstances

Lisa was last seen on the morning of Sunday, July 17th, 1988, leaving a house party in Woodford, Ontario. Although she arrived at the party with a girlfriend and male acquaintance, her girlfriend stayed behind when Lisa left. The male acquaintance left with Lisa. According to his statement, he drove Lisa back to her car and she left for home. Two days after her disappearance, Lisa's green 1976 Plymouth Fury was found on a blind road running through a farmer's property. The car had been stuck in the mud and there were indications that attempts were made to dislodge the car. The day before her disappearance, Lisa moved back home in Owen Sound. She was 5 months pregnant. In the days and weeks following her disappearance, the OPP conducted a number of searches of the area. During one of the searches, Lisa's driver's licence was found along a roadway. It is likely that it had been tossed from a moving car. It was located on top of tall grass. Six months before her disappearance, she and her husband, Terry Maas, separated and she moved in with boyfriend Ron Valliere. The morning before her disappearance, she phoned her father to pick her up. She had decided to end the relationship with Valliere and move back with her parents. Neither Maas nor Valliere are considered suspects, police have said. Her father moved her back home, but, on July 16, 1988, she went out with friends in Owen Sound, then to the Woodford party. Before heading to the party, she left her car at a friend's place. She and her friends got to the party about 3 a.m. on July 17. She later got a ride back to her vehicle. Later that Sunday, it was found stuck in the mud, the doors and trunk open, but it wasn't reported to police for two days.

Rowe, Cheryl

Missing: Cheryl Rowe

Circumstances

After Christmas shopping together on Dec. 21, Cheryl told Kristina — who was sleeping at a friend's house that night — that she'd meet her in a nearby park at around 11 p.m. with a bag of fresh clothes for the following day. Kristina says she spoke to Cheryl, who was running late, but told her she'd be leaving the Browndale Crescent address where Mitchell currently lives, when her ride arrived. Family report Cheryl leaving with a bag in hand at around midnight, after a car picked her up. Before meeting Kristina, Cheryl planned to drop by the home of an ex-boyfriend, at 34 Rathfon Cres. She arrived at the home, but Cheryl, 46, never turned up to meet Kristina. On Christmas morning, when Cheryl once again didn't show — the gifts she bought, wrapped and stored at the family's Browndale home — Kristina called York police and filed a missing persons report.
